Hey, all!

So I've been running two DA accounts for ages, one for fanart and one for non-fanart. It made sense at the time I set it up but it doesn't make much sense anymore. I'm moving over to my other account, elleskinner @ da. All new work, fanart or not will be posted over there:

:iconelleskinner:

If you enjoy my work, please follow me over! I won't be posting at this account or checking my messages here any longer.

Thanks for the support, guys!

(PS. I'm moving the rollerderby mash-up Avengers to my new account, mostly because there will be more someday and I'm a completist like that. Otherwise I'll be leaving this account alone)

Image Comic Expo is coming up February 24-26 at the Oakland convention center in downtown Oakland! :) I'll be in the Artist Alley, booth to be announced, and I will be selling my wares and taking sketch commissions and all my usual conventiony stuff. I'm very excited that ICE has arrived to fill the void now that Wondercon has "temporarily" moved to Southern California and I'm hoping it'll be a blast to participate!

As you may've seen promoted on such websites as io9 (!!), I'm one of the artists for the awesome collaborative fairytale webcomic called Erstwhile. My first story just wrapped up last week and my second is just starting, please go check it out!

Hello!

Alternative Press Expo is next weekend, October 1-2 at the Concourse in downtown San Francisco. I'll be there at table 508 so folks in the area should stop by! I'm taking requests and pre-orders to get started on sketch commissions, so interested parties please email me :) (cozyfire @ gmail.com)

A special shout-out to the fact that I am selling my roller derby comic Hey, Derby Girl!. I'll be taking sketch commissions while my arms are feeling hearty, especially derby related ones. Just sayin'.

  • Mood: Tired
Wondercon starts tomorrow! I will be at table AA-061 selling Derby Girl, Allfur, Fitcher's Bride and more! I will have my tiny robot series there, for sale! Conventions are one of the opportunities to get minicommissions from me, so locals should come see.

And after that it is back to the routine of working, working on Littlest Elle, working on new webcomic, and working on another Erstwhile comic. This does not leave much time for wacky fanart (barring more experiments with MangaStudio, of course). Sorry guys, I'll be back in the summer ;_;

It's a new year, about time to update the journal with signs of life!

Am working on things that are not fanart and not polished illustration, so both of my accounts are a little stale. Sorry about that ^^; I am back to work on Hey Derby Girl (trying to get issue 02 done by mid February, let's see how that goes), keeping up with the Littlest Elle, and starting something new. Maybe I will have something to say about the something-new a little later this year (like March).

I will also be attending Wondercon this year for sure, and I'll have more information about that closer to.

Anybody remember the art cards I made for the 30 character meme? Well, many of them are for sale! Times are tough and money is tight, so please consider checking them out!

Also, so, roller derby marvel gender swap fanart. About that. I honestly started this as a one-off gag while hanging out at a roller derby match with some friends. Except then the idea sort of took route and got addictive and now it's like "I have a free moment, I SHOULD DRAW ANOTHER DERBY DAME."

So, uh, sorry guys, if this is not your cup of tea. I'm sure once I complete the Avengers line-up to my satisfaction I will get distracted by another shiney object and move on. Just hang tight!

And event schedule: Wondercon was awesome. Zinefest was awesome. Next on my convention schedule is Alternative Press Expo from October 16-17.

Bumping off the old journal entry that was sitting here.

Things continue along. Had a great time at Wondercon and hopefully will be posting some of the fanworks I did pre-con and during con. I have more than 4, y'all. It's epic ;)

Been enjoying a lot of fannish stuff lately. TV, anime, movies, it's been a good time. I'll see if I can't make time to celebrate more of these, but it's going to be a Crazy Busy Summer coming up, so we'll see! (About to start on my next Erstwhile comic, am working on a collaborative mini with J, and I am due for hand surgery again sometime over the summer. Yergh)

As for events, there is San Francisco Zinefest on Labor Day Weekend. I have my table booked already and it is shiney! And then after that, there will be Alternative Press Expo from October 17-18. The usual.

Where did summer go? I swear, I blinked and a minute ago it was still June. Been busy on work that I can't share at the moment, but in the meantime, some event information:

I'm tabling at San Francisco Zinefest this weekend, as the Littlest Elle! They haven't released a map pre-event, but I will be there and I will be bringing my usual flock of mini comics, a brand new tiny-comic about my cat, and my pieces from Strawberry Comics.

After that, there is Alternative Press Expo from October 17-18. Maybe I will be entering the Isotope Zine contest? Maybe I will be in another show at Studio Gallery SF? As things get concrete, information will be posted.

In the meantime, I have some minis to fold and staple. Hopefully new art soon!

More silent than usual right now while my left hand is immobilized in a splint. I'm on the mend and I'll be fine in a few weeks, but typing/commenting/posting is very difficult until I get my hand back (at least I can still draw in the meanwhile!).

In less dreary news, I was invited to the Charles M. Schulz museum in Santa Rosa as a cartoonist-in-residence on Saturday, June 13th. I'll be there to chat, Q&A, and sell minis to any locals who swing by. Hopefully by then I will have my hand back!

Not dead! Just preoccupied. Still moving, like I have been all month (everything is here but still in boxes).

The Frog Prince is still available for online sales! It's a 26 page original piece written & drawn by me and I'm very proud of how it turned out (the print quality is rad, now that I can hold it in my hands to verify).

I'm also getting ready for APE this November. My half a table is listed under "The Littlest Elle" and I'll be selling Frog Prince, my fairy tale zine, a Littlest Elle mini full of all new material, and some crafty stuff if all goes well (still need to beta-test the earring system...).

Also, it's 24 Hour Comic season. That's going to be fun.

So, not as much on the fanarty side of things, but I may end up sketching around more than I think once October wears on (the list of fandoms I want to show some love to goes on for MILES). Thanks for continuing to follow me!

So, my very first solo comic is available for online preoder! It's a short piece (26 pages or so) based on the Frog Prince fairy tale and yeah. It is fluffy goodness! If you're a fan of my work, check out the preview and consider supporting me :D

I'm quite excited, personally.

I have not been as active doing fanart as I have been on original works or minicomics. I have also taken up crochet and gotten reobsessed with knitting, so, yes, I am being creative, just not in ways you might expect ;)

I would like to try my hand at some fanart soon, though. My list of fandoms that need some loving are long indeed! I mean, not the least of which, I'm now hopelessly addicted to D.Gray-Man... (though does the world really need more rabid Tyki Mikk love? I feel it does)

So, if someone's posted your art to photobucket, how do you even contact them to be like "thanks for liking my art and all, but please take this down from your account"? I'm not a photobucket member, so I have no idea how you gather someone's e-mail address or even leave comments for them or what.

I'm not wigging out, I get that it's a compliment, but there's no way for that image to come back to me (foolishly I haven't tossed my URL as a watermark lately). And I would really rather like my art to link back to somewhere people could find more and support me, rather than nameless emo kid on photobucket, you know? ;)

Posted my annual online holiday card over at my other DA account and I thought I would cross post, since this account is more popular and seasons greetings are to be shared by all ^^ So Merry Winter and a Happy New Year to all y'all!

Sidenote: I have been giving my cozyair account more loving lately, so I encourage folks to check it out if you're wondering why I don't post terribly much here.

Likewise, my comic journal with all sorts of strips and experiments is still chugging along strong. I actually have a firm update schedule, it's fantastico!

Well, as I sit here 9/10 commission slots completed, 2 weeks before I make a massive huge crazy trip of awesome that still needs planning (...heh), I figured I wouldn't try to fit any new ones in.

Will consider taking more on in October or November if interest is there. So, if interested? Please comment, note me, or comment on my livejournal so I get an idea if it's worth it or not for me :)

Let's see. Those of you on my watch list may have noticed that the Okage fanart 100 countdown is getting up there. My sketchbook has 4 more in various states of completion, meaning I only have 2 prompts left to start work on, and then I'll be done (!!). I realize this may not seem too impressive, but considering how few people have finished the f100 and how I had to stop drawing for a while in the middle of mine, well... not bad.

I'll have to commemorate its completion with something big and fancy, or something.

My other new project of the next while is an online comic journal, kind of. I try to do a little comic short about my day every other day, and then I post my favorites once a week. They're like my little Okage strips... but as my shadow is not possessed, they are not quite as awesome ;)

1) Back from comiccon. Woo!

2) Finished my 10 request meme while at comiccon. Woo!

3) I am now open for a limited number of mini-commissions during August and September! I also have some leftover prints from conventions long past (long, long past) up for sale as well. All that information is detailed on my livejournal, and I will continue to update the exact number counts over there.

4) Did I mention that one of those prints for sale is Okage (see link)? Just sayin ;)

Potter book drops tonight. I get to start my copy on Sunday. I usually take about a week to read the bigger ones and I head out to comiccon on Wednesday (I suspect I will be sitting in the car sniffling or shouting "YES I KNEW SOMEONE WOULD GET A SILVER HAND TO THE EYE!"). Anyway, I won't be looking at anything on my watchlist/commenting/reading comments on any of my pieces related to HP. And then, like, I'll be MIA for Comiccon, and that's that.

Two side notes that are entirely unPotter related.

One: I will be at Comiccon! I will not have a table, but I have two anthologies dropping with my comics in them. I especially would like to pimp out Friends of Lulu's Girl's Guide To Guy Stuff because they are ridiculously nice people to work with and the caliber of stuff in there is awesome. Also, if you are going, totally go support Divalicious. It's about something other than ambiguously gay vampire orgies, so Tokyopop is giving them an unfair hard time about sales.

Two: I am going to start scrounging for funds soon. I was thinking of opening myself up to a limited number of olittle nline commissions (with guaranteed turn around dates) to, you know, help buy a week's groceries or something while I'm saving up. I could use just a vague showing of hands, who has funds who'd be interested in making a small commission?  If you like, I even set up a poll over on my livejournal. If you don't have an LJ account, it'll still accept annonymous posts ^^

Two point one: I plan to clear off my request list before I even open up a real commission list. That includes a personal project and that 10 thing request list.

I'm going to split my work between two DA accounts from now on.
I'd like to start posting more original character-based work (oc100 is still on my list), and this gallery is getting kind of crowded with all my fanart100, so I figured I'd just start a new account and get more exposure for individual pieces.

Not sure if I'll stick to the idea, but it sounds kind of appealing, and it's a nice temp measure until I can get my Actual Website Back And Functioning (ie: when I can code again comfortably).

So, once I have time to impliment this, this will become my fanart/exchange image/random image gallery.

Those of you who dig my original characters and the like (and I hope there are a couple of you!), I now direct you to cozyair, my new and as-of-yet-untouched account that will be home to, among other things, an OC100.

Those of you who dig both, I hope I have not made your lives too difficult ^_^;

*

Sidenote: I am still working on the 10 person request meme thing, just slow-like.
Permalink, for now: explanation of what the heck is up with me and drawing right now.

*

(I have requested of Bleupencil, so now I must offer as well).

Get them while you can, folks!

The first 10 people who comment on this entry may request a quick/loose/arm-friendly/low-key sketch from me. Just reply to this with your request, and if you're #1-10, you're all set.

It's up to me how I choose to interpret your request (ie: if you request Ari/Stan/Epros XXX HOT THREESOME, you will probably not get what you're expecting). There is no deadline for me, so it's up to me for whenever I want to get it done and posted.

Sounds good? But wait! There is a catch!

If you comment and want a sketch, you have to do the same in your journal for other people. If you do not also offer up 10 sketches in your journal, I will not take your request.

I'm game to try this if you all are.

So, I still don't know what's wrong with my arms. Been seeing multiple doctors pretty regularly since May and I've had a few small improvements, but on the whole we're all very puzzled about my lack of healing.

C'est la vie.

This would be why I'm still not able to check dev watch/comment much (believe me, I appreciate all the kind words, though!) and why my non-DA art page is not going to come back up for ages. Sorry ^_^;;

You may have noticed that I am not dead, however! My Okage fanart100 is getting updated again. I'm allowing myself to work on this as long as I keep my art loose/arm-easy and I stop whenever it feels bad. I'm at 60-something right now, and 100 is so close I can almost taste it ;)

In short: I am hanging in there, I am still pretty scarce, but HEY LOOK SHINEY OBJECTS AGAIN ;) Thanks everybody who've been so supportive during this - I appreciate all your comments and feedback. It's very encouraging ^^
I have a particular deviation that keeps getting moved around. Rather a random choice for policy violations, no?

I think it's kind of annoying that it got moved from sculpture to "artisan crafts" since it was, actually, a sculpture assignment for a class. But I don't really care, so I haven't thought about it until I got the following reclassification.

Pardon me as I laugh very hard:
"New Category: Artisan Crafts: Metal Work

This notice requires no further action on your behalf. In the future, please take heed of the gallery descriptions that are presented to you when a deviation is submitted or edited"

Right. That bit about heeding descriptions? Why not read my actual comments, which describe the stick people as constructed out of balsa wood. Last I heard, that wasn't metal work?
